The National Curriculum currently consists of five core subjects:
Maths, English, Science, Religious Education and Information Communication Technology.
In addition there are six foundation subjects:
History, Geography, Music, Art and Design, Physical Education, Design and Technology.
Within our curriculum we aim to cater for the differences in abilities and characteristics which distinguish each individual child.
At St. Michael’s we aim to provide a curriculum which will enable the children to achieve competence in the use of language, in mathematics and ICT, to give an introduction to science and to lay the foundation of understanding in religious education, history and geography.
PE and Music are strengths of the school. The school has applied for Active Mark Gold which is a Sport England award recognising the excellent sports opportunities offered to pupils.
Children are introduced to a range of activities in the Arts. Opportunities are provided throughout the curriculum for craft and practical work leading up to experience of design and technology and of solving problems.
